2009 DIGITAL SHORTS IN PRODUCTION
21st August 2009

Northern Ireland Screen's four digital short films have gone into production.

The films are DAVY JONES, PAINT, SUNDAYS and THE DINNER PARTY.

DAVY JONES -  written and directed by Richard Parkin.
On their first fishing trip together, a ten year-old boy has to decide how to deal with the anguish his estranged and immature father causes him.

PAINT - written by Andrew and Ryan Tohill and directed by Andrew Tohill.
Michael, at his lowest point, misses the lingering smell of paint. His son David reminds him that some memories, no matter how painful, should not be forgotten.

SUNDAYS - written and directed by Alanna Riddell.
A troubled teenager struggling to cope with his mother's death and an elderly widow trapped in a cycle of competitive grave polishing and social isolation meet in a cemetery.

THE DINNER PARTY - written by Mark Jordan and directed by Michael Lennox.

Normally a solid, stable sort of man, Tom is thrown off balance when a very old hurt once more raises its ugly head. Brian is the kind of guy who when he gets his teeth into something that's important to him, can find it damn near impossible to let go.  When they meet at a dinner party, Brian finds himself deeply embroiled in Tom's past.  In hindsight, he really, really should have let it drop.

The films are being produced by Red Ray Films who also facilitated the Digital Shorts development process.

Northern Ireland Screen and The UK Film Council's Digital Shorts scheme  is a year long programme which aims to seek out and develop new filmmaking talent and enable them to make innovative short films using digital technology.
